The gender-based view towards women in the West has been one of the targets, most hit by Iranian theorists to condemn Western views, which is true in many cases. Based on this argument which denies the gender view of women, the human being should be the focus of attention, regardless of being a man or a woman, not only in social affairs, but also in all areas of life, both genders should be provided with equal opportunities.
However, actually most of those who preach on the issue are the ones who adopt the most gender-based views towards women in decision makings. The gender-based view finds priority over humanity wherever a decision is made on people, where capability and competence should be the criteria for making decisions.
In patriarchal systems, when talking about SOMEONE, that someone means a male! The System gives priority to men for the sake of being a male. The view has two functions: firstly, pushes the women, even the most capable, to the second level of priority. Secondly, females are only allowed to improve themselves within the limits and frameworks set by men. Also, any deficiency is considered as women’s fault in a patriarchal system, such as improper upbringing of children for – which both parents are responsible – or even men’s misbehavior for which women are always considered to be guilty!
Now, what is overlooked for a long time is how to discriminate between masculine versus manly view of women. Masculine view is common between humans and animals, for example a male brain gets totally engaged with feminity when seeing a female. But in a man’s view, men consider the human being in front of them and not just a being with a female gender.
The most clear model of the behavior is practiced in Hajj rituals and Tawaf around Kaaba, where all men and women are just doing the rituals regardless of masculinity and feminity and need to focus their mind on their creator. In fact, God the almighty has been teaching a remarkable routine for social interaction between genders [in Hajj], which should be a pattern of behavior for the believers, to be practiced in daily life and not be considered as just a Hajj ritual.
Undoubtedly, mind training and knowing how to become a human being is what the ritual is encouraging, so that the male and the female can find their way beyond.the features common with other creatures and become the “noblest of all creations” as defined in Islam.
